The incumbent Chairman of the Delta State Chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Chief Joseph Adolo Okotie-Eboh, has been described as the best and most visionary Chairman in the history of the party in the state, even since the days the party was known as Action Congress (AC).
Delta State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Frank Eghomien, made this declaration yesterday in a press statement issued in Asaba, the state capital in apparent reaction to a call for the removal of the state Chairman by defeated former ACN candidate for the Uvwie/Okpe/Sapele constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Dr. Veronica Ogbuagu.
According to Eghomien, the exemplary and participatory leadership style of Chief Okotie-Eboh, made an enlarged general meeting of the party in Asaba a few months ago to unanimously pass a vote of confidence on him, pointing out that the same Dr. Ogbuagu attended the said meeting.
“It is laughable for any true member of ACN in his or her right senses to dream the removal of the current Delta State Chairman. This is a man who has taken ACN in Delta State from point zero to the enviable height it is today, particularly in terms of structures and membership.
“We quite agree with Ogbuagu that it was time we flushed out all Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agents masquerading as members of ACN in Delta State. The state executive is already compiling names, the Delta ACN image maker said.
According to him, just as nobody can ever be more Roman Catholic than the Pope, nobody can be more PDP than Dr. Ogbuagu who rose to become a former PDP Commissioner for Education in Delta state under former Governor James Ibori, adding that the “leader of ACN in Delta Central Senatorial District under the interim Vice Chairmanship of Hon Solomon Oyen, were capable of responding to other scandalous statements credited to Ogbuagu”.
